League of Women Voters of the Bay Area

Register to Vote sign and an American flag

There is no other organization quite like the League of Women Voters. Female or male, young or experienced, too busy to help or looking for a way to get involved - all of us help promote the informed and active participation of citizens in government. That's what makes democracy work! The League of Women Voters of the Bay Area, founded in 1967, takes our mission seriously and works very hard to fulfill our charge. We are primarily known for our work in voters service - registering people to vote, distributing thousands of Voters Guides, and hosting candidates forums. We also educate ourselves and the community on timely issues through discussion meetings. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

LWV-Bay Area Annual Meeting - Charriss York and WaterSmart Gardening

was held on Saturday, June 6, 2015

The featured speaker at the Annual Meeting was Charriss York, Stormwater Program Specialist with the Texas Coastal Watershed Program, which is part of the Texas Sea Grant Program and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. York gave a very engaging, informative, and inspiring presentation on the need for and merits of WaterSmart Gardening. After the meeting adjourned, she took several members on a guided tour of the Ghirardi Family WaterSmart Park in League City. Motivated by her presentation, members asked York to share her slides and handouts, which she kindly did.
